Design and build a model of your future weather-proof home!
Future Homes is a fun way to explore architecture, geometry, and design.
In this workshop, junior designers will work hands-on with a team of instructors to create their dream home. Starting with a group brainstorm session, our junior designers will be challenged to imagine creative ways to protect their homes from flooding, heavy rains, strong winds, and other weather conditions. Then, it’s model-making time. Junior designers will get help designing and building their model houses using a variety of reclaimed and recycled materials.
Once the designs are complete, we’ll put these models through some stress testing in our lab. We’ll discover what solutions are better at withstanding bad weather, and discuss what worked and what didn’t.
Models that withstand testing will be displayed during the OAW festival.
